Get into retail!

Princes trust are currently recruiting young people for Get into Retail with Marks & Spencer a free 4 week course we will be delivering in September.

This course is free and aimed at young people from North Wales (aged 16-25) who are NEET (not in education, employment or training) who are work ready and are interested in working in the Retail Industry they must be able to travel to Prestatyn and Llandudno, unfortunately we are unable to work with any young person who is on the work programme.

All participants will have the opportunity to achieve the following:

·         Gain in-depth training in the retail industry by completing work experience with Marks & Spencer.
·         Learn about stock rotation and control, good customer service and selling skills.
·         Improve  teamwork and communication skills and boost confidence, interview skills and your CV at the same time
·         Receive up to six months support after the programme to help find a job.
·         Travel and lunch expenses provided for the whole programme.

The course will run in Prestatyn and Llandudno from Monday 16th September – Friday 11th October 2013, with a Taster session on  Tuesday 10th September 2013. (Time to be confirmed venue will be in Prestatyn)  the Taster Day will include the following:

·         Marks & Spencer retail talk
·         Overview of the 4 week programme
·         Features & Benefits of the programme and working at M&S
·         Team building session
·         Formal interview of 10-15 minutes

Marks & Spencer have committed to 50% of the young people getting jobs at M&S although likely to be part time and fixed term initially, we have already ran three courses with M&S in South Wales and only 1 young person did not gain employment with them.

This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to gain experience and knowledge within the Retail sector with a well known and respected Retailer enabling them to look for employment in the Retail industry. Please feel free to pass on this information to colleagues or any young people you feel would be suitable for the programme. Any referrals must be received prior to the Taster Day as all referrals will be expected to meet up with a myself before the Taster Day to assess their suitability for the course.

If you would like any further information or would like to refer a young person, please contact Sian Jones on 07970 876717 or 01745 366685.
