Denbighshire Home start are looking for volunteers

Family Support Volunteer – Throughout Denbighshire
Time: Around two to three hours per week
Across the UK more than 16,000 Home-Start volunteers visit families at home each week, supporting parents in situations as diverse as isolation, bereavement, multiple births, illness, disability or who are just finding parenting a struggle. They provide non-judgemental practical and emotional support and help build the family’s confidence and ability to cope. Home-Start runs more services and has more volunteers supporting more families than any other family support charity in the UK.
What will I be doing?
> Supporting a local family within their own home
> Chatting, providing companionship and building confidence
> Helping with any area that the family may require or signposting to help available
> Assisting in the development of families and their children
What Skills/qualities will I need?
> A willingness to give up your own time in order to help others
> An ability to visit families in their own homes and give parenting advice
> A good friendly and caring personality
> Good communication skills and a good understanding of confidentiality
> The ability to use various skills such as patience, tact and being diplomatic would be useful

What could I get from the experience?
> The opportunity to gain an accredited qualification from the training course if desired
> The chance to receive further training in areas ranging from First Aid, to safeguarding and financial inclusion
> A chance to improve and enhance any communication or teamwork skills you have
> The feeling of achievement from assisting families to live better lives
> Reimbursement of expenses occurred whilst volunteering for us.
